What could I take away from today's reading to improve my life?

In today's reading of Gone Girl I read a lot of things. Nick, one of the main characters in this book, lies to the police and gets himself in trouble. You should never lie to the police even if what you have to tell them is really bad. Lying will only make things worse for you as time goes on. Also, this will bother you and eat away at you if you know you have done something wrong such as lying to the police. When Nick lies to the police he has to backtrack and tell another lie to cover up his previous one. The police are already suspicious about him and he is not helping his case by lying to them. The stuff he has to tell them is not all that bad anyway and by telling them he would free himself of that burden. He would only be helping the police find his wife. He should be telling them everything he knows that will help in order to get Amy back. Overall, I learned that you should always tell the full truth to the police because by lying you just make it worse for yourself. Hopefully I will never have to talk to the police though.
