Main character as my Friend

Nick is one of the main characters in the book, Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn. I would not want Nick to be my friend. Nick is a very sketchy individual. In the book he says that he is lying to the police. This makes me wonder about him. He was counting the amount of times he lied to the police during the investigation process and that creeps me out. Also, during the press conference he smiled. Instead of being sad he smiled while talking about Amy. It was an evil smile that will make the police suspect stuff of him. So far I do not like Nick. When Amy talks about their past it is always about how she did something to make Nick happy and it didn't work or when he was being mean and she did something to make him happy when really he should have been apologizing. Amy does anything and everything to make Nick happy and be a good wife without nagging him or anything and he still walks all over her. I have a weird feeling that Nick is cheating on Amy and I hate people who cheat of  spouses. Overall, I am not a big fan of Nick and would not want him as a friend.
