The one objects that symbolize Thirteen Reasons Why are the tapes that Hannah makes. Without these tapes there would not be a book. These tapes show Hannah's hurt and what caused her to end her life. These people that she talk about on the tape symbolize the theme because they were not careful how they treated others. They treated Hannah bad and now she is gone. Hannah made these tapes so these people could realize what they did to her. She wanted them to feel the way she always did. They should pay for what they did. The emotional way they will feel after they hear what she has to say will scar them for the rest of their lives. Therefore, the tapes do show the main theme.
