There are many things that could change the outcome of this story. In the book Where She Went you see through Adam's eyes the hurt that he is feeling. After the accident Mia left him. She felt she needed to get away from him. He after all was the one that asked her to stay and live from the beginning; she could have gone with her family but that didn't happen. One night as Adam is out for a walk he notices Mia is performing in Carnage Hall. He has the urge to go watch her and see her one more time. He decides to go and it turns into a crazy night for him. She reveals her real reason for leaving him and they take a walk down memory lane. She finally says "I'm sorry" to him. If Adam would not have gone to Mia's concert they would not have gotten back together. All because he attends her recital they end up getting back together and rehashing their love for each other. If this major detail was changed Adam would have remained depressed and Mia would have stayed in her held back lifestyle. Mia and Adam found each other again because of this. They realized that their time apart was not worth it. If this engagement did not take place Adam would most likely marry Bryn. He would live an awful life just for her to have fame and be in the spotlight. This event was the big changer in this story. Therefore, we know that the reuniting of Adam and Mia defined this book and anything else would change the story drastically.
